OK...that is possibly the funniest thing I have seen all week!

Posted by: Damian at November 2, 2005 3:32 PM

Is there some sort of beltway blogger conspiracy afoot to confuse the Senior Senator from Illinois (and Senate Minority Whip) with this?

Posted by: Dan at November 2, 2005 3:49 PM

Um, is Durbin popular in France?

Posted by: David at November 2, 2005 6:15 PM

To be perfectly explicit about it, seated at the Left Hand of Reid above is one Richard J. Durbin, and not Jerry Lewis (as billed).

Oh, thanks for the clarification, Dan. I wasn't sure which beltway conspiracy you were referring to.

That makes much more sense and really completes the Mandatory Abortions Trifecta feel that the photog was going for. However, I'm glad I was able to expose the depths to which Republicans will go to appease their Francophilic base.

Damn, man, I spent the better part of a day doing google image searches looking for the right allusions. This is great.

Posted by: Jedmunds at November 2, 2005 8:14 PM

Incidentally, on the Metro I spied a copy of the Financial Times that used a similar photo for the front page, but one in which Reid is smiling gently and holding his hands in a beatific manner that really augments his halo. Failed the Superman II test, though.

Posted by: Kriston at November 2, 2005 8:25 PM

There's a Superman II test? Does it involve a Fortress of Solitude?

Posted by: Matt F at November 2, 2005 10:37 PM

Ok, I'm slow. Picture, pose, Superman, similar, etc.

I blame the Tetons.

> Oh, thanks for the clarification, Dan.

It occured to me after the fact that this image, while hilarious, might not be all that clear.

By the way... Chuck Schumer is no Ursa.

Posted by: Dan at November 2, 2005 11:13 PM

Also also... too bad Daschle's not around anymore. This could have been Tom, Dick and Harry.

Posted by: Dan at November 2, 2005 11:14 PM

Now that would be hilarious. Unfortunately, that would mean that Tom Daschle was in the Senate.

Hey, this got picked up by Alternet. Let's see, for the books, hmm, carry the two—Pandagon gets the shot and G.p picks up an assist.

Posted by: Kriston at November 3, 2005 10:57 AM

This is really stupid.

Posted by: Alice at November 4, 2005 2:03 PM

There is that to consider.
