Closed immediately and indefinitely, say the Going Out Gurus. Aw, man—Gestures had just got word that we were playing Fort Reno this year. Arsenic—what a bummer!
Posted by Kriston at May 14, 2008 2:06 PMOne wonders about the playing fields at Alice Deal Middle School just down the hill.
Posted by: richard at May 14, 2008 4:14 PMSuggested alternate post title: "Arsenic and Closed Space"
Posted by: Tom at May 14, 2008 4:14 PMLet's play the National Mall!
I think that if Meridian Hill weren't totally torn up, it would be the clear substitute. It's got an easy stage setup, a big grassy mall, it's accessible, etc. If anything it's just too small.
Posted by: Kriston at May 14, 2008 4:19 PMA friend of mine finds this whole story awfully convenient, given that the neighborhood has been looking a reason to shut down Fort Reno for years. Black helicopters flying overhead, spraying arsenic?
Posted by: Kriston at May 14, 2008 4:50 PMMy vote for an alternate venue goes to Franklin Park. It's Metro-accessible, centrally located, in a fairly nonresidential area, and it's got a built-in audience of homeless people.
Failing that I think there may be a soccer field or something within walking distance of the Clarendon Metro.
